Local SEO checklist for service businesses
22 August 2026 · 9 min read
Local SEO is not only map pins. It is matching how people search for services near them—and proving you are the right provider on the page they land on.
Align NAP and service pages
Business name, address, and phone should match across your website, Google Business Profile, and key directories. Service pages should name the city or area you serve in the title and H1 when relevant.
Cover intent on each page
Include pricing signals, FAQs, process steps, and proof (reviews, certifications, photos). Thin city pages with duplicate copy hurt more than they help.
Use internal links from blog posts or guides into your commercial service pages.
Track a small keyword set
Pick 5–10 phrases that reflect real bookings—not vanity national keywords. Snapshot rankings monthly and fix technical blockers before you scale content.
